Whispers of Golfing Talent – Six youth players from LM Golf School are cordially invited to 2024 Canada’s ORORO Women’s PGA Championship

Recently, LM Golf School was awarded the invitation that turned our attention to the 2024 ORORO Women’s PGA Championship of the PGA of Canada that will be held at TPC Toronto Osprey Valley from July 2nd to 5th.

Six youth players from the LM Golf School, founded and run in Canada by Brazilian Master Professional Golfer Luiz Martins, have been invited to compete with the best professionals in the country in an event that confers the highest honor in national women’s professional golf.

We are amazed and honored by the professionals who reach the highest level of their art in various areas within the golf course. We talk about the gifts or talents they possess. This includes those who have a knack for hitting long drives, accurate approaches to the flag, bunker clearances to holster them, putters from any distance, shots with effects, and more. Each of these professionals demonstrates their gifts, but above all their professionalism and incomparable human quality are unmatched. All this is refined and improved by a lifetime of work, study, and practice, polished by the entity that brings them together. The PGA of Canada represents them, with its educational focus, turning their talent into real professionals. The PGA of Canada does an incredible job in the country with professional, amateur and youth golfers, always in harmony with the country’s Golf Federation.

LM Golf School received the first invite in 2022 for young amateur Amy Wang. The following year, the invitation was repeated, Amy, who played in these events, returned amazed by the experience. In addition to the experience she gained contact with the PGA of Canada women pros and the welcome and affection of the entity.

Amy understood that being a professional is not just a desire, but a life of dedication is necessary. Last year, Amy finished Top 30th. Her presentation was so remarkable that it resulted in a new invitation, now extended to four other athletes from the school: Isabella Ma, Christina Wu, Eileen Zheng, Victoria Flavius, and Chloe Fong, who for the first time will participate in a tournament with Canada’s elite women’s professional golf. Together they will demonstrate grit, dedication, talent, and their golfing skills in this great challenge.

The girls have been together for almost five years and train daily under the guidance of Coach Luiz, alternating between the driving-range at the Markham Golf Dome with games on the golf course including, Rolling Hills Golf Club, and St. Andrew’s Valley during the week. Even in winter when snow makes it impossible to play on the course, training takes place indoors at the Markham Golf Dome.

Victoria, Christina, and Chloe want to reach professionalism. They all know the difficulties and the long road it takes to get there.

“They also know that to win they need to lose. That in a golf tournament, playing poorly and losing does not mean they have failed. In the same way, if they play and win, they know that they have not yet achieved success”, comments Coach Luiz.

“Looking through the lens of the professional I see it essential to make the opportunity available to my students to play with the professionals. Not only do they learn how to play quality golf, but they also will become excellent citizens. I don’t expect them to win, but I do hope that they do their best during the tournament and return home satisfied and happy with this immeasurable exchange of experience with female professionals”, says Coach Luiz, reiterating that his philosophy is about preparing athletes for great challenges.

Rylan Chan, the golf prodigy who, at only seven years old, trains daily 2/3 hours a day, dreams of being a pro

This 7-year-old boy has not managed to do something extraordinary yet, but he will do something that is within the reach of very few people, much less his age.

Rylan was only 6 years old when he started golf, he is passionate about golf and has already achieved what for many is a feat, and much more at such a young age: He obtained 3 1st places, 3 2nd places and several 3rd places in the CJGA – Canadian Junior Golf Association tournaments. It seems that Rylan is predestined to be a great player in this sport.

Rylan Chan is only seven years old and has already been playing golf for two years, a sport in which he is beginning to go far despite his young age.

The young golfer of Chinese parents was born in Canada where he currently resides.

Like most kids, Rylan dabbled in other sports, but none of them as much as golf.

“Rylan was introduced to golf around the age of six. At first, he has semi-private lessons with a friend just for fun.

After several months, the head coach at his golf club noticed him and encouraged his parents to think about more serious golf training.

Since then, me and my wife became more serious about him playing golf and so I started taking him golfing every day for at least one or two hours, during the winter and/or summer.

The first thing Rylan does after school is always play golf. He loves putting, and the first thing he does when he gets to the Dome is usually to the putting green, and most of the time he dedicates to putting during that hour of practice. Encouraged by his coach, Rylan joined CJGA tournaments this summer and won second place in the 9-and-under section of the CJGA Linkster National Championship, as well as a few other CJGA tournaments where he took first, second and third place. His dream is to become a professional golfer and meet golf stars like Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy. He often imagines himself becoming famous and has already designed a logo for himself and the golf products for him once he becomes famous in the future. Rylan received the invitation to play the Champion of Champions Junior World Championship in Northern Ireland, but he won’t be able to leave because my wife won’t be able to get off work (she is his caddy). “We as parents support him unconditionally in his golf journey, but we also look at what is good and bad for him and will guide him accordingly.” His father says Lung Sum Chan

“Rylan is an extraordinary phenomenon! His dedication and concentration in training is something admirable that can be an example for many children his age. I like to see his disposition in training, his kind way of being, the education and affection how he treats people in general. Rylan is undoubtedly on the right path; with the love and support of his parents and the teachings of his instructor “Andrew” he will go far.

I would like to see him play in our tour tournaments next year. That’s going to delight all the kids his age because he will be a great appearance in the LMPJ Tour tournaments.

The father of this little genius gives a lot of credit to what his son has done: “I wouldn’t be surprised if he is the first 7-year-old child who has such a desire for golf. I think he will make history in golf, as well as “Tiger and Rory.”

Congratulations Rylan! I advise you to continue on this path, aiming for the future, to see how many more tournaments you are going to win.” Although you are still very small, if you continue like this you will win many more.

May your determination and the admirable help and patience of your parents take you where you want to go with golf.” Words from Coach Luiz Martins.

Best student and player of 2023 in the kids U9 division, Chloe Wang helps and inspires the evolution of the sport at LM Golf School in Canada.

Golf is not one of the sports that can’t be played all year round in Canada. This year, golf courses closed in the third week of November and will only reopen again in mid-April 2024.  However, a 7-year-old Canadian golfer is giving hope to fans of the sport, that in the future, more young golfers may emerge whether in golf clubs, driving ranges, academies, and golf schools. This athlete’s name is Chloe Wang.

While all the spotlight was on the Juniors tournaments in Canada, Chloe was in her region, participating in the LMPJ Tour tournaments, an LM Golf School tour. With a memorable performance in almost every stage of this circuit, Chloe won 6 of the 8 tournaments she participated in to win the Best of the Year award!

Chloe has been playing golf since she was 4 1/2 years old. In 2020, her family moved to China, and it was there that she began learning golf motivated by her parents, Ray and Emily Wang, and uncle.  Despite her very young age, Chloe returned to Canada in 2022 and under the guidance of Coach Luiz developed further in golf and studies.

The young athlete also participated in three and won two tournaments of the CJGA circuit – Canadian Junior Golf Association.

“I think I can help the evolution of golf. I want to be able to participate in all the tournaments at school, the LMPJ Tour and the World Championship in Northern Ireland (Champion of Champions) next year, make new friends, exchange experiences, and maybe win.  The events and championships I’ve participated in have helped me develop and I know I can become even better.  I know I can be a Major champion one day because my Daddy and Mom and my Coach believe in me.  I learned from my parents to always be grateful to my Coach because he not only teaches me golf, he allows himself to be my Caddie in tournaments and helps me a lot, (this has a value that cannot be measured, and no Coach does that).   It’s very easy when you play on the field with a professional caddy.  If one day it’s possible, I want to play in my coach’s country, Brazil, and I’m going to train to win. ” Said Chloe!

Despite her maturity in golf, Chloe still embraces her childhood. Every day, after class, Chloe spends 15 minutes playing with her friends from golf school. This is a time when they develop skills with structured and unstructured exercises, combining with other sports and especially soccer, they get candy and chocolates.

Chloe was born in Canada. Me (father), and my brother (Chloe’s uncle) were avid golf fans, so Chloe grew up surrounded by golf. When we returned to Canada, we were lucky enough to meet Coach Luiz Martins, an expert in working with children and young people with a vast history in professional golf. Now she practices golf at the Dome three to four times a week for one and a half hours each time. On other days, Chloe is also learning piano, swimming, and skiing. My wife and I want her to continue with her passion and love of golf, and that golf brings many joys and achievements to her first and foremost, and to us too. We hope that golf can accompany Chloe throughout her life and become her favorite sport. For this reason, we are willing to do anything for this. We hope that Chloe will thrive under the guidance of Mr. Luiz. Words from Ray and Emily (Chloe’s parents)

Chloe, from a very young age, already showed her ambition within the sport. But now she’s even more focused. When asked what she would do with her life outside of golf and whether she would like to go to university, Chloe revealed her preferences.

“I want to go to college, with the help of my Coach because he sends the students there, my parents want that too, but I dream, and I want to be the youngest girl to play on the LPGA Tour.”

This fact is quite curious and difficult to beat. That’s because the youngest golfer to play in a PGA Tour tournament was Don Dunkelberger, at 11 years, 11 months, and 2 days. But that occurred in the distant year of 1937. In more modern times, the record for youngest on the PGA Tour is held by Hawaiian golfer Michelle Wie, when she was invited to play in the 2004 Sony Open men’s tournament, played on the famous American island. Unfortunately, she didn’t make the cut, but she made history by competing at just 14 years, two months, and 29 days!

Chloe’s future in children’s golf is a case of an athlete who, even at an extremely young age, is an international hope, in a sport that is famous in her country of birth even with a few months of the year to practice and that has 5.7 million golfers. All questions about how children deal with pressure when entering sports are important, as well as examples that sports, at any level of competitiveness, are fundamental in the formation of a young woman and transform her into a good citizen.

I always say that the way Earl Woods transformed his son Tiger into the phenomenon he became today is an example for many parents. Earl, first of all, believed in his son and talked constructively with Tiger to make him understand that he was a child prodigy since he was 2 years old.

Words without criticism, without demands, but powerful words from parents, can help their children overcome the most difficult things in their lives.

Tiger encouraged himself and boosted his momentum on the final day of the 1997 Masters, with the words of his father Earl: “One thing, tomorrow when you go out there, it’s gonna be the heart of one of the hardest rounds of your life but if you just be yourself, stay cool, it’s gonna be one of the most rewarding rounds of your life.”  Tiger felt the weight of his father’s words and the confidence he placed in him, and the next day he won his first victory in the Augusta Master.

As about little Chloe, I totally believe 1000% that little Chloe could be the next young girl to participate in an LPJA Championship in the future. Chloe has everything it takes to get there, and I hope nothing happens along the way that hinders or harms her journey. Says Coach Luiz Martins.

Don’t rush in your judgements because your child’s future is in good hands.  Amy Wang and her family are a clear example of this!

On this date, we confirm the consolidation of the event of awards and appreciation of our students in Canada in its 5th year. We started to live an important moment from the year 2018, the year of Coach Luiz’s arrival in the country. We are all, without a doubt, to be congratulated, simply because we are experiencing the most important event for the students and athletes of our School.

For the work of all of us, we would like to start the award work of the Annual Awards Dinner. Firstly, by thanking our sponsors – the winners of the annual events, – awarding the prizes to our best of the year (who has honored us a lot with dedication and effort) and finally, the athletes awarded in 2023.

Our thanks to the following sponsors and supporters of the “LM Golf School Annual Awards” who, without them, would not be able to hold it, as follows:

Today we are announcing the naming of the annual LM Golf School award in its 5th edition, also honouring our partners and sponsors.  The LM Golf School, created by Coach Luiz PGA Master Professional since 2000, whose objective is to discover talents, prepare and make competitors in junior golf, started its work in Markham, Canada in November 2018.  The story goes that the first event was held in 2019 with the participation of 5 students. We had a break due to the pandemic and, in 2022, we held the 3 years together (20/21/22) with 48 participants. This year, celebrating the 5th anniversary of the School in Canada (Markham Golf Dome), we had the participation of 96 people.

“We remember with affection and gratitude all the work done by Coach Luiz during these five years exuding wisdom, knowledge and an extreme talent and ability to deal with children and get the best out of them to develop in golf. Luiz excels with friendly manners and always a cordial smile, good humor, and a warm heart whenever he is with children and young people.  He was the best of the best and we’re all the better to have known him.” Says Harry Feng, former student, the school’s first student and athlete of the year.

Amy, who participated in the junior world championship and finished in T6th position and participated in the Women’s PGA Championship of Canada by invitation and finished in T30th position, was also awarded 5 times with the awards for best student, Top 1st player and athlete of the year.  She served as assistant coach for the past 12 months until he joined McGill University in Montreal, where she will be part of the golf team. We remember her and her daily workout activities, and we are confident that this year’s honorees embody many of the same qualities as Amy.

Also, with pleasure and satisfaction we announce, the Athlete of the Year! Aidan won the regional Long Drive with 321 yds, the State Long Drive with 340 yds, and was part of the Canadian team that went to participate in the world championship in North Carolina – USA, and for having finished the competition in 4th position hitting a 351-yard Drive.

On the occasion we took the opportunity to recognize the companies and parents who support us, as well as highlight some of them who contribute to our event in significant ways. The Best of the Year Awards celebrate a player or team that embodies integrity, demonstrates leadership in practice and among students, and models excellence on the golf course.

We also pay tribute to Harry and Frank for all the selflessness and logistical and administrative support they donate to the school throughout the year.

The “Best of the Year” awards, the awards for the season’s events and the honors to our partners were presented on the season-ending dinner at Rolling Hills Golf Club.

Keeping the golf flame of the future alive

LM Golf School was pleased to honor Jefferey Ma, Altaf Dhalla, Luigi Flores, Willy Wang; with the “Sponsor Partnership” Award at this year’s dinner. All extraordinary volunteers and supporters of LM Golf School, their mission and vision for all aspects of golf for developing young people. We were very excited to recognize them in this way.

“I’m sharing my heartfelt reasons for sponsoring LMGS Golf School for Juniors. It started when I enrolled my daughter in this program under the training and instruction from the Founder and Coach, Luiz Martins. From that moment, I was touched by an extraordinary force of dedication, passion, and patience. Coach Luiz’s energy and enthusiasm were infectious, creating an environment where young talents not only thrived but truly blossomed. His unwavering devotion to bringing up their skills and transforming these young talents into confident individuals, both on and off the course, fueled my commitment to support this remarkable initiative. I am immensely proud to see these young golfers flourish, not just as athletes but as well-rounded individuals ready to take on the world. Together, we can continue nurturing dreams and shaping futures.” Said Jefferey Ma, Steam Sauna Manufacturing and Isabella’s father.

“Hi Luiz, I wanted to thank you for the wonderful year end banquet which concludes our 2023 Golf Season.  It was incredible to see how far you’ve come and how much you’ve grown in only four years.  My son Aidan started at your school three years ago when you had less than 10 students and our dinner was at a small cozy restaurant.  Now you’ve amassed over 70 students from age 4 to 17 and it was amazing to see how happy and excited they were.  The quick growth comes from your talent, enthusiasm, and love for the game, and it shows in your instruction and leadership at the range and on the golf course.  Congratulations and we’re looking forward to many more years of success!” Said Altaf Dhalla, A Few Good Men and Aidan’s father.

Athlete of the year? What makes a great athlete? Is his or her swing? Is it how he keeps his body? Or their equipment? Coming to the golf course, to the range and to the events I see the athletes putting into practice what they learn at LM Golf School, but what really caught my attention was their behavior! Not just their swing evolution, or how they look or what equipment they use. All I hear is “please” and “thank you”. I also see friendship, respect, and happiness. To me, that’s what makes a great athlete! In this way, I want here, in a few words, congratulate LM Golf School for providing quality instruction to these young people and to all the parents of the students for absorbing this in a friendly and respectful way. Congratulations to all parents on raising capable and educated children who eventually can become great athletes and champions of the future. Said Luigi Flores TSL Maintenance, Sarah and Liam’s father.

“About LMGS Ceremony: It’s the ceremony for all kids and their family! It’s the time for the people who love golf and love the school! It’s the man named Luiz Martins glory moment! No matter hot summer or cold winter he stays there with the kids, share the happiness time, and afford the tough one. We are glad to see LMGS is getting better and better right now, and all the students get not only the golf skills but also the life attitude from school. Thank you, Coach Luiz! Said Willy Wang, Amy’s father.

In addition to the many awards handed out, the main one that brightened the ceremony was the award of the best students, players, Rookie of the year and highlight of all divisions U7, U9, U11, U13, U15, U17, Junior U19 boys and girls.

Spotlights for Isabella Ma, Cynthia Sun, Emily Zhang, Jessie Meng, Chloe Wang, Ariana and Sara Flores, best students, and players of the year in their divisions. Among the boys shone Aidan Dhalla, Alec Sayevich, Ethan Kong, Josian Orozco, Austin Liu, Haomiao Fu, Aidan Zhu and Liam Flores, as the most improved students and best players of the year.

In this year’s Girls vs Boys challenge, the winning team was the girls. Captained by Isabella Ma, the team was made up of 16 players who fought until the last hole to bring back the Cup. Special mention for the participation of Sophia Chen (former student) who was invited to reinforce the girls’ team. girls and did it with great praise.

We congratulate everyone for dedicating themselves to the continuous training that has resulted in the harvest of better results and let them know that they have been an inspiration to others during this season and the next as well.

Philanthropy at its best

Our events started with simple donations from the first meeting, the cost of which was all paid for by Willy Wang, Amy Wang’s father. Since then, contributions have started to come in many ways, including spreading the word about the school’s program to friends and family, helping to raise awareness of the important work we do with children, and young people discovering them and training them to be future golfers.

We also had a special presentation, the student and athlete Jessie Meng, who enchanted everyone with skill and dexterity by commanding the violin and playing three beautiful songs and receiving the applause of all present.

Our special guest Richard Sing did an excellent job not only as MC but as entertainer of the party. Thank you Rick!

Thanks again to STEAM SAUNA MANUFACTURING, A FEW GOOD MEN, TSL MAINTENENCE for their continued support. We can’t wait to see what await us next year!

The girls win 4 and draw 1 of the 8 paired challenges in the Match Play and take the Cup back

The girls win 4 and drew 1 of the 8 paired challenges in the Match Play and take back the Cup by 9 to 7.

Christina Wu during her tee shot on the first hole of the Girls Vs Boys Challenge, Sunday, Oct. 1, 2023, at Rolling Hills Golf Club – Bethesda Grange.

Rolling Hills Golf Club — The School’s most peculiar tournament took place this Sunday with a regular dose of Match Play curiosities, including the good performance of Rylan Chan.

The last of the 32 players to take their match was also the last to define their duel.

Rylan, who entered the event by invitation thanks to his performance and dedication in training at the Markham Golf Dome had to play his individual match when his partner Aidan Bates could not appear due to injury. After passing the first again one down, she won the last nine by 2 up, a great duel in the history of the tournament with Sophia Chen who had an exemplary performance the 18 holes of the tournament.

Our thanks to Sophia and her father for brightening the event with their presence. Sophia Chen who was a student at the LM Golf School has the potential to be a great player in the future. Dedicated to training, she always has the support of her dad John on the court. Parabens Sophia!

Highlight for Captains Isabella Ma and Aidan Bates who did not measure efforts to prepare their teams for combat. There were 4 victories of Victoria Flavius/Julia Liao, Christina Wu/Sylvia Liao, Cynthia Sun/Chloe Wang, Chloe Fong/Arianna Iannacito and one tie Isabella Ma/Sarah Flores that placed a 2-point advantage over the boys who added 3 victories with Lucas Miyazaki/Mauro Iannacito, Haomiao Fu/Rolang Ding, and Rylan Chan, a tie with Aidan Dhalla/Aidan Zhu.

Technically, it wasn’t the fastest meeting of the day. No one had it easier than Corey Conners, who played just two holes before Paul Casey spased his back and conceded defeat. Casey remained in the match play hoping to play his next two matches.

Six of the top eight seeds won their duel, while Patrick Cantlay tied Keith Mitchell after both missed putts for birdie on the final hole. The exception was Justin Thomas, who made just one birdie after the first flag and lost 3-and-2 to Luke List, who was 1-5 in this contest.

A beautiful party of fraternization between advanced players with the little beginners. Thanks to the popes for bringing their children and to Lincon, Pablo who showed up to help during the event. In space for Willy Wang the father of Amy (our best athlete) who went to the club to prestige the players and help the organization.

Our thanks to Rolling Hills Golf Club and its staff, for such a nice welcome to our athletes.

To our sponsors, Callaway Golf, Champion of Champions, Markham Golf Dome, Steam Sauna, A few Good Men, Caddy Time and LMPJ Tour.
